Maintaining a healthy website keeps your business in shape

New Year New You

Happy New Year to you all.

If, like most of us, your website has overindulged at Christmas, now is the time to re-assess it- a better body for a healthier future….

Many businesses ran Christmas promotions, and sadly a lot of them are still hungover. Many websites, especially those for small businesses, are written and then put aside. As with all social media marketing, it is important that the website is as ‘clean’ as it can be. Many times I see a Facebook or Twitter post advertising a product for a ‘New Year Promotion’ only to find that when I click through to the website the text doesn’t match, or there are old pictures on there. Does it reflect completely your company and say what you would like it to say? Do your social media platforms all ‘sing the same song’? Have elements of your business offering changed and so you updated your Facebook page and yet forgot about the website? Are there any products that you sell, or services that you offer, that would benefit from an e-commerce enabled website? Or do you think that the ‘look’ of your website is ‘so last year’ that it needs an overhaul.

It’s now time to change that and put your website on a detox purge. Read your website today as if this is the first time you have seen it and you’ll be inspired to make it slicker and much more readable. I try to take an objective look at my websites every six months-ish. I do a basic health check on it more regularly (are all links working, do all pictures still load, is any content out of date etc), but a proper MOT every half year. You will be amazed at how much you change.
